Aim and scope (DIM-ESEE)
Aim and scope (DDIM-ESEE)
The DIM-ESEE Conference started as EIT Raw materials funded project and was held each year from 2016 in Dubrovnik. Since its launch in 2016, the programme has evolved from a targeted annual workshop into a full-fledged conference format (from 2025 onward), increasing its visibility, international reach and capacity for impact across the ESEE raw materials community.
The goal of the Conerence is to bring together academics, PhD students and professionals from across the Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (ESEE) region and beyond, to engage in exchange of ideas, dialogue, and networking across the raw materials value chain.
Our aims are to:
Cover the entire raw materials value chain, from resource prospecting and discovery, through mining methods, geometallurgy and sustainable extraction, to recycling, waste management and processing—ensuring relevance across domains and stakeholders.
Provide a platform for networking and knowledge exchange, enabling participants to connect with industry, policy makers and academia, thus contributing to the regional innovation ecosystem.
Foster multidisciplinary collaboration among higher education institutions, research centres, industry and wider society—with a focus on strengthening the innovation capacity of the raw materials sector.
Raise societal awareness of sustainable mining and circular economy practices, helping to build public acceptance of raw materials activities and to promote economic growth and employment in the region.
