Synopsis

The proceedings of the International scientific and professional conference BRIDGE 2026: Down syndrome – Opportunities, support, and development, held on March 20, 2026, at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Faculty of tourism and rural development in Požega, emerged from a recognized need to integrate scientific knowledge and professional practice as the foundation for a responsible, contemporary, and supportive approach to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The collection includes scientific and professional contributions that reflect the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue and provide a meaningful contribution to the development of theory and practice in supporting people with Down syndrome.
The conference title, BRIDGE (Building Research, Inclusion, Development, Growth, Education), symbolically and programmatically emphasizes the construction of bridges: between science and practice, between the education, healthcare, and social welfare systems, between the academic community and civil society organizations, and, above all, between knowledge and tangible support in the lives of children, young people, and adults with Down syndrome.
